Wal-Mart class action suit judgment largely upheld

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court largely upheld a judgment in a class action suit against Wal-Mart Stores on Monday, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing from the retail giant.
The plaintiffs said Wal-Mart prevented class members from taking full meals and rest breaks and failed to pay class members for hours they worked.

Wal-Mart said it is considering asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case.
It estimated the charges stemming from the case will be about 6 cents of diluted earnings per share in its fiscal 2015 fourth quarter.

"This estimated impact is not in the Company's fiscal 2015 fourth quarter EPS guidance or fiscal 2015 full year EPS guidance, both of which items were furnished in the Company's fiscal 2015 third quarter earnings release on November 13, 2014," according to the filing.
