"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart's latest real estate deal is no laughing matter. The comedian sold his TriBeCa duplex for $17.5 million, the Daily Mail reports. Stewart and his wife, Tracey, bought the property for $5.8 million, according to the report.
Stewart acquired the property back in 2005, when TriBeCa was still an up-and-coming Manhattan neighborhood. The 6,000-square-foot apartment, which features a private roof deck and terrace, was not publicly listed prior to the sale, according to the Daily Mail report. Actor Jeremy Piven also reportedly lives in the building.
The property, according to records, was listed under a limited liability company, which the Daily Mail said helped secure special tax benefits for Stewart. The Comedy Central star also owns two properties in Red Bank, New Jersey, which cost him $7 million. The TriBeCa sale will prove a nice windfall for Stewart, who already makes $15 million a year for his TV gig.
